More than half of all U.S. commercial floor space is cooled by self-contained, packaged air-conditioning (AC) units. Most of those are rooftop units (RTUs). Also called unitary air conditioners, these mass-produced machines include cooling equipment, air-handling fans, and sometimes gas or electric heating elements. Condensing units are also very common and the only difference is the cooling coil or evaporator is not contained within the unit. Condensing units often reside on the rooftop and the cooling coil or evaporator resides in some sort of air handling unit within the facility. |

Energy efficiency There are usually multiple tiers of efficiency one can chose from for the same size AC system. For a system size between 65,000-135,000 Btu per hour, one can find Energy Efficiency Ratio (EERs) ranging from of 8.9 to 12.0. After meeting energy code requirements, efficiency is one of the most important variables when maintaining a commercial AC system. Maintenance No matter what equipment you have, it's important to make sure the overall system is designed to be efficient, and that it is properly maintained. This includes regularly cleaning and filter replacements. Conducting regular tune-ups, correcting refrigerant charge, cleaning and adjusting the system to correct airflow and improve heat transfer, replacing filters monthly or as needed and repairing major duct leaks can yield surprising energy savings at low cost. |

Required Service Dependable Ductwork Co. provides a Service Program that will help keep your equipment running at its peak performance and energy efficient. As part of the program our Service Technicians conduct a complete Rooftop Unit (RTU) inspection including the coils, compressor, drip pan, air leaks, supply fan, condenser fan, belts and ductwork to determine scheduled maintenance. Typically RTUs should be cleaned at least once a year. Indoor Air Handling Units (AHUs) every 6 months or as needed. After the RTU is inspected cleaning and sanitizing is scheduled. Our RTU & Filter Service Program will provide better indoor air quality, keep your supply ductwork and registers cleaner and keep your equipment running more energy efficient. |
